Fred Steiwer - Head Pro
Fred is in his 43nd year teaching at Vista Tennis. Prior to teaching,
he was a top ranked New England Junior, and also has had some
National tournament experience. He attended Rollins College and was a
varsity player all four years.

Rory Capener
Rory is the Director of Tennis at the Wilton Riding Club.
We have had the pleasure of having him use our courts to teach his
clients during the winter months and we are thrilled to have him join our
staff again this Fall.
Rory grew up playing on the Zimbabwe Junior National Team before leaving
to play college tennis at Morehead State (Division 1). Rory played number
1 and 2 singles and doubles all 4 years.
He began coaching at age 14 under the Zimbabwe Olympic/Davis Cup
Coach Gavin Siney. After college Rory joined the staff at London's Habor Club,
before going on both the ATP and WTA Tours traveling with players.
Cara Black reached the US Open Women's Doubles Final while training
with Rory. She is a former #1Doubles player on the WTA Tour and
#34 singles player. Rory also worked with Marcos Ondruska, Wayne Black,
Irina Selyutina, Joannette Kruger and Elena Tatarkova.
After returning to the US Rory worked at Shippan Racket Club, and at Armonk
Tennis with the Altheus Academy alongside Rick Ferman (former USTA COO
and coach of Todd Martin).
Rory has been the Director of Tennis at the Wilton Riding Club for the
past 14 seasons.
Doug Sarnoff
This is Doug’s 14th year at Vista Indoor Tennis. He has over sixteen years of
teaching experience in Westchester County, during which time he also ran
several summer programs at private clubs in Fairfield County. Prior to 1998, he
lived in Southern Pines, North Carolina, and Palm Beach County, Florida, where
he conducted clinics for both children and adults, and gave private lessons at
area clubs. He played college tennis at Colgate University for two years. He lives
in Pound Ridge with his family and three dogs.
Catherine Walker
Catherine is a former top ranked Eastern Tennis Association player and New
York State High School Doubles Champion. She attended the University of
Michigan on a four year tennis scholarship where she competed at the varsity
level and was voted team captain. She has taught tennis in the northeast for
many years. This is her 13th season teaching at Vista Tennis.
